Currently, we have more than 100 students from 80+ families. They can be divided into three distinct groups: one is students whose parents have native Chinese background, and the other two groups are students whose parents do not have native Chinese background (adopted Chinese children and other ethnic groups interested in Chinese culture and art ancestry). Students range from preschoolers to high school students and adults, ranging in age from 5 to 50+ years old. Every Saturday 9am to 1pm at Lee Burneson Middle School, Westlake Chinese School provides Chinese language and culture courses for everyone. According to the different family background, the language programs are divided into three categories: Simplified Chinese, Chinese culture and adult Chinese class. From 11:00 to 1:00, we provide students with extracurricular cultural and sports activities, including Chinese Painting, Dancing, Martial Arts, Tai Chi, Badminton, Table Tennis, Cucurbit Flute, Voice Lesson etc. Most Chinese teachers have a master's degree and the Ohio State Teacher's Certificate.
