I am in my fourth year studying Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. I previously worked at Bay Cliff Health Camp, a summer therapy camp for children living with disabilities. At this workplace I got to learn from PTs, OTs, Speech Therapists, Nurses and most importantly the children about their experience and relationship with their personal medical devices. This experience led me to my interest in the design and use of devices in the medical field. I am a part of the executive board for the American Sign Language Club here at UofM, where I help organize and run weekly meetings to learn ASL. I also got to organized a DEI event for pre-health majors on campus to bring awareness to the Deaf Community and access to healthcare. I am a member of Phi Sigma Rho Chapter at UofM, a sorority for women pursuing STEM careers. I have loved building a strong community within this organization and supporting our philanthropy, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I am a Michigan Medicine volunteer working in Dr. Banakis-Hartl’s Human Perception and Psychophysics Lab studying the localization of sound and the effects of a cochlear implant on the ability to localize sound. I am excited to keep studying in the Lab and getting the opportunity to apply the knowledge I’ve gained in class to a research setting.
