After being awarded with a Certificate for Computer Aided Drafting and Design, I was very fortunate to have found a full-time position as a mechanical drafter as Waldemar S Nelson. I quickly progressed from red lines to 3D modeling HVAC and piping for the living quarters of a floating platform in the span of 2.5 years. For my first professional job as a drafter, I loved the different programs I used and the opportunity to advance my skills. Although I felt my time was short, I was very grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow. Now, I’m a full-time drafter at MS Benbow as well as a student at Delgado Community College. I’m working towards my A.A.S in CADD as well as a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I graduated in December 2020 as a Phi Theta Kappa member and will be starting at the University of New Orleans in Fall 2021. Although working and study can be difficult at times, I’m really enjoying this time in my life. Hopefully, I can keep up this energy and continue learning as much as I can.
