Starting today, Tuesday 08/17/21, I've joined the team at Vectorworks as their Product Planner for Spotlight. This is the software package used in the entertainment industry for creating the vast amount of paperwork and documentation for theater, concerts, events, and more.

Taking, and passing, the etcp entertainment certification exams in electrics and theater rigging are my latest accomplishments during my 30 year career. At the moment, I am one of the few in the Philly area who hold both electrics and rigging certifications.

My approach to lighting design is two-fold. Either creating an environment in which the event takes place. Or, from a point of view as if the light is a character. I enjoy working with directors who like to discuss how the characters of the show will interact with the light. What effect does the light have on them, and vice-versa. Lighting Designer for RENT, the Musical.

The HSTech.org site is devoted to the care and feeding of high school student theater design and stage technology students. We are also committed to helping teachers allow students to take on various leadership roles in each school production.

USITT: the United States Institute of Theater Technology is a national organization devoted to design and technology for theater. Member driven events and on-going research towards the advancement of design and theater technology.I have been involved, on & off, since 1986. I have also been a chair and/or presenter at the national conference for the past 10 years.

I contribute my time to being a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Institute of Theater Technology.

Creating designs, paperwork, proposals etc. for national conferences, celebrations, corporate events, and themed entertainment. Work with our integration devision to create pre visualized environments to assist the sales and production departments communicate with clientele. I serve as the lead trainer of our CAD program, VectorWorks, for design colleagues and our lighting staff/crew.

Out of college I started this company to serve the needs of small to mid sized theaters in New York City. I learned a tremendous amount about running a business, dealing with clients, the workings of tech theater, and more.In 1992, I decided shift more towards lighting design and enrolled at NYU.

Starting out I was operating a computer that controlled a vinyl cutting machine. Looks exactly like an old fashioned pen plotter. Over six months, I was gaining more responsibility and ended up running production.

I had a wonderful time designing lights for two productions at the Hedgerow Theatre. Side by Side by Sondheim, directed by Jay Berkowitz. The other was Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Yvonne Roseman. Yvonne's husband Ralph was a great man of the NY theater and a terrific friend to me in my starting years.
