Focus on contracts with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection. Conduct comprehensive interviews. Verify the accuracy of information collected and present analyses and conclusions in written reports. Began as a Level I Field Investigator. Promoted 2 times within 16 months and asked to train new hires. Consistently exceed production goals.

Lead team of 4 graduate students in planning, organizing, compiling and presenting the 1st audit of the World Bank’s Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) index. The GRI uses performance metrics to demonstrate the commitment of this international development institution (10,000 employees, 100+ offices) to sustainable development, i.e., to using resources in ways that “meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”We evaluate the transparency and relative success of the Bank’s sustainable use of environmental and social resources year-to-year. Reporting to the Corporate Sustainability Coordinator, our team examines both development initiatives throughout the world and best practices in use at the U.S. headquarters. We then propose desired improvements in process, both by department and by activity. This assignment has provided invaluable insights into the operations and decision-making patterns within the World Bank.

Asked to help launch a new program to transform staffing of the Bank’s online communications (300+ positions, 200+ business units) worldwide. As a key member of the recently formed Web Governance Team, I designed and directed the pilot project to identify and select communications officers simultaneously in 15 countries (East Asia Pacific, Latin American regions). Highlights:• Reduced recruiting time 33% over prior methods (typically from 6-8 to 4 months)• Leveraged minimal funding ($500 per position) to expose existing budget excesses• Produced detailed training and procedures manual to document processes• Standardized hiring process (advertising, testing, interviewing, etc.) while attracting wider range of skills and accomplishments• Facilitated “buy-in” for change with Vice Presidential Units (ultimate hiring authority)The success of the program resulted in significant alterations in the procedures now used by the Bank as part of multi-year initiative to staff web-related positions here and abroad.

Served in positions of increasing responsibility at various locations for this multi-state financial institution (10th largest U.S. bank, 7.4 million customers, 1,250 branches). Reported to Store Manager (Commercial Branch Manager). Managed retail operations (11-15 employees, average daily cash reserves $500,000) at 2 successive locations. Both branches under my direction were acknowledged for regularly surpassing monthly corporate goals and for consistently exceeding federal banking compliance requirements. Selected Additional Accomplishments:• Expanded consumer loans by more than $1,000,000 (60% growth)• Increased branch consumer deposits over $3,000,000 (25% growth)• Opened 120 accounts on average each month• Successfully trained and promoted 2 customer service representatives to management rolesSubsequently recognized for achievements in consumer lending. This Division within the Department of Economic and Social Affairs at the United Nations (UN) provides world-renowned leadership and expertise on sustainable development as part of the UN’s efforts to solve problems challenging humanity. Invited to research and analyze the potential impact of a global Feed-in Tariff fund that would combat climate change by stimulating the renewable energy sector. Also, contributed to the preparation of Trends in Sustainable Development, a UN flagship publication, and to journal reviews of sustainable coastal tourism development.
