In this role my job duties often surpassed the classroom into the realm of social work where I was an advocate for families to stakeholders including community organizations, police officers, educators, and public officials. -I provided Professional Development trainings to teachers to support English Learners in text-dependent, social and emotional learning practices, as well as typical teaching duties through a trauma-informed lens.-Each day I enacted social and emotional learning techniques in classroom interaction to encourage healthy coping mechanisms, provide trauma-informed lessons, and support student-teacher relationship building.-With attention to detail, I completed legal documentation of English Learner plans that inform teachers of legally required accommodations for each student.-I developed culturally inclusive lesson plans and activities that accommodated varying degrees of English language proficiency as well as professional developments aimed at advocating for students and supporting educators.
