As the executive director of the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA), I bring nearly 20 years of experience in the food industry, with a strong foundation in nutrition and food science. I lead this nonprofit organization, representing 8,000 fishermen who harvest the world’s largest wild sockeye salmon run.My mission is to strengthen demand for Bristol Bay sockeye salmon by promoting its sustainability, exceptional quality, and health benefits at the distributor, retailer, and consumer levels, while expanding into new markets and channels. Through strategic campaigns, I aim to positively impact our fishermen members by enhancing the value of their catch and supporting their livelihoods. I also oversee various programs designed to promote sustainability, improve product quality, and ensure long-term environmental stewardship.Beyond my professional role, I have a personal commitment to food education and philanthropy. I have taught nutritional classes for Cooking Matters programs, served on boards for City of Hope and Seattle Neighborhood Group, and hold a certification in Food, Nutrition & Health from the University of Washington. I believe that food is a tool for connection, culture, and community building.
