I am a committed student at the University of Miami; originally from the UK, I moved to New York aged 10 and then to Chicago aged 13 which has given me a particularly open-minded outlook on both my studies, and the world. My passion (or rather, obsession) for Marine Biology started off in the North Atlantic Ocean in the UK where I would spend whole summers floating amongst the seaweed and marine animals, desperate for a glimpse into their mystical underwater world. When we moved to NYC, my love for the ocean developed into an appreciation of nature and I became more connected with life under water through swimming competitively. With a surplus of resources educating me about the global climate crisis when I moved to Chicago, I became infuriated at the negative impact humans are having on the planet. These events have made me into a fully fledged nature and ocean fanatic! Here in Miami, Key Biscayne is one of my favorite places to explore and I am dedicated to taking care of the local enivronment through my actions - especially through beach and ocean cleanups. I have always been passionate about the ocean and marine organisms as well as the natural world in general; this, combined with my desire to discover new things through science has made my love for Marine Biology even greater. I am a certified PADI divemaster and volunteer weekly with Rescue-A-Reef (a coral and benthic life restoration laboratory) which has allowed me to further my ability to explore the underwater world and share it with others.
