Due to the… Show more As a Casework Assistant within the CPS, I work in conjunction with a team of personnel in the Crown Court Unit preparing cases for Plea and Trial Preparation hearing (PTPH) and trial hearings. There are several critical tasks that are my responsibility to complete so that cases are fully prepared ahead of time, contain all the necessary information required, are handled in a manner according to the sensitivity of the information and are circulated to the appropriate stakeholders. Due to the varied nature of my role, it is crucial to be fluent in multiple case management systems and re-prioritise tasks as required to minimise costs and maximise output. Possessing a high level of interpersonal skills, these are consistently demonstrated when dealing with providing defendants, witnesses, and victims support, as well as advice throughout the case whilst ensuring that any urgent issues are suitably managed. Additionally, due to the nature of my work and my superiors, I have picked up many legal terms and understand criminal law confidently, and therefore, I am skilled in providing victims and witnesses advice where I can. Furthermore, I deal with my own cases on the Complex Casework Unit (CCU) which includes, high-sensitive, complex cases. My role within CCU is to prepare cases ahead of the trial and ensure that all case material is downloaded via the Egress system, to make it accessible for all internal parties. I upload all case material to the Digital Case System (DCS) and make it accessible for external stakeholders, which include defence, counsel, and court. Due to the timely manner of this task, I prioritise it above all else to ensure no further costs from the court to arrange another hearing and public confidence isn’t risked. Having started this role at a young age, it allowed me to grow in confidence and responsibility. The beginning of my time there included duties such as general housekeeping of the pharmacy and pricing stock. I was then trusted with more important roles such as managing COVID19 deliveries, dealing with patients’ requests, telephone enquiries, disposal of confidential information and assisting with the destruction of medication.

In this role I worked alongside the employees of the centre, enabling me to get first-hand experience and participate in many administrative tasks. I organised and distributed license passes to tenants and was first port of call if the tenants required assistance. Using computer software, I independently updated the weekly newsletter and recorded invoice data with supervision.

At MLI I worked directly with the Activity Manager completing administration tasks such as booking venues/attractions for clients, amending reservation to make them more suitable for clients’ needs. and researching excursion locations to be able to provide tours and information to foreign students. Working alongside the owner of this popular dog groomers, meant gaining hands on experience and knowledge of the industry. My duties included washing, combing, and drying the dogs whilst using the appropriate products and techniques for that specific breed, in addition to completing general housekeeping duties.
