Dr. Lin Xu received his Ph.D. from Xi’an Jiaotong University with a research focus on statistical machine learning theory, models, and algorithms. Upon almost two years of academic experience as a postdoctoral researcher in Electrical & Computer Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi and one-year industry experience as a senior research fellow as well as computer vision group leader of the Institute of Advanced Artificial Intelligence in Horizon Robotics. He joined Shanghai Em-Data Technology Co., Ltd. as the vice president of the Artificial Intelligence Institute. He is currently working on machine learning models/algorithms, deep learning techniques, 2D/3D data analysis, and high-level computer vision recognition tasks, i.e., 2D/3D classification, retrieval, segmentation, and detection, etc., and their applications in the security system, traffic control, and weather forecast. Focusing on the primary research direction, he has authored/co-authored over 30 papers in well-known conferences/journals such as IEEE CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, IJCAI, TNNLS, TIP, TC, KBS, TGRS, IGRS, etc., and also serves as the reviewer of some of the above conferences/journals. He has participated in over 10 national, ministry (provincial) and international projects as the project leader or senior R & D staff and applied for 14 inventive patents (5 items as the first inventor). He was selected into the 2020 Youth Science and Technology Rising-Star talent plan by the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM).
