About Linda Bernstein

Like many women of the Baby Boomer generation, I have had a non-linear career trajectory. I began as a college professor, teaching English and writing, but for the last 25 years I have also been a professional writer, editor, project manager, and now a specialist in social media. I teach Journalism at Long Island University, Brooklyn; I have been a contributing writer for PBS NextAvenue.org, and the tech columnist for the Baby Boomer Websites, "Better After 50" and "Midlife Blvd."I also work with Sree Sreenivasan (former CDO at Columbia University, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and New York City) organizing social media workshops and trainings, including "Social Media Weekend." I am a strategist for Sree's start-up, Digimentors. In addition, I speak at conferences, run panels, provide content for brands, and help others write books. As a social media consultant, I have worked with several non-profit and government agencies, including ECOSOC (United Nations), Carnegie Foundation, Committee of 100, Healthier NYC, and Fortune 500 companies.Oh, and I'm writing a historical novel about the Jews in medieval England.Specialties: Writing, Editing, Social Media, Teaching, Keynote Speaking, Project ManagementContact Me: Through LinkedIn

We covered all aspects of social media and social analytics, working with public relations professionals, nonprofit and foundation leaders, small business owners, and, of course, journalists. What distinguished our course was the individual attention we gave each student. Our vibrant approach involved "field trips" that gave hands-on experience with various social platforms. The students in our classes formed communities that remain active via social media long after the lecture hall has emptied. Show less
