Fletcher, Ph.D. (1924-2005), America’s “Father” of Affirmative Action informed her decision to found Boardroom Bound® in 1998 & its Boardology™ Institute in 2004. Program is designed to function as a pipeline of diverse “board ready” business leaders for service in boardrooms of privately held and publicly traded companies. Group fosters good governance by introducing Triple Bottom Line governance training before helping match leaders with companies seeking to fill open board seats both here and abroad. Today the program is considered the forerunner in the American boardroom diversification movement.BACKGROUND: Early training in counseling psychology led to working as a therapist on an in-patient unit for dependent personalities. A pay disparity dispute resulted in filing suit with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. EEOC learning curve provided a rare opportunity for a white entitled woman to learn how the white male elite system functioned around "difference" and resulted in using her local contacts to become the first woman to serve at the cabinet level in the Peoria, IL. city government. There she developed the city’s first Affirmative Action Plan. It eliminated many city discriminatory employment and supplier procurement practices and later influenced her joining the War on Poverty by sub-contracting with the Federal Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) in Peoria, Springfield, IL and finally Washington, DC where she founded PPSI in 1980. Returned to Peoria in 2008.Goals: Doing well by doing good.
