For over thirteen years I was a claims consultant with Continental Casualty Company (aka CNA). While beginning in the Environmental and Mass Torts Units (asbestos bodily injury), I moved to the Healthcare Professionals unit (nursing homes, home health care, hospital excess, nurses, physical therapists, and doctors, among others). Claims included Professional Liability, Bodily Injury, Baby injury and elder injury cases. I actively managed and directed defense counsel's litigation and motion practice and developed, managed and directed defense strategy which included resolution by motions, settlement or trial. I reviewed medical records, depositions and counsel reports to evaluate the level of injury, causation and liability. I negotiated with defense counsel to obtain settlements when warranted. If settlement could not be attained then I pursued resolution via mediation or arbitration if possible. My focus is understanding how a claim will affect my customer’s business. I begin by listening to them, then I determine their needs, review the available facts and find the best resolution possible. I have worked with doctors, nurses, therapists, nursing homes and fortune 500 companies. Several clients specifically request that I work on their files.

Product Liability defense requires understanding the complex medical issues involved with product injuries from products ranging from asbestos injuries to child crib deaths.
