About Linda Ligios
Inspired by sustainable innovation and driven by business-changing technology and ideas, I enjoy building strong client relationships and leading open innovation, R&D and collaboration-building activities to develop thriving, diverse and sustainable ecosystems.I joined Digital Catapult in Nov 2019 to lead several large-scale CR&D programmes in the area of Future Networks (open networks, 5G, IoT and LPWAN). This includes the industrial 5G Testbeds & Trials Programme set out by DSIT to demonstrate the value of 5G in manufacturing and logistics and the SONIC Labs programme delivering advancements in Open RAN technology, a key pillar in the UK Government’s 5G Diversification Strategy.In my current role as Head of Innovation, I'm responsible for overseeing the Ecosystem Building strategy for Ecosystem, shaping and delivering projects and programs aimed at driving the uptake of advanced digital technologies and fostering the growth of innovative technology startups and scaleups in the UK.Previously, I was Head of Innovation Partnerships at Springwise Intelligence where I led all innovation partnerships and managed all activities related to clients, projects and delivery overseeing budget, innovation scouting, content, creativity and output. This position has allowed me to dive deep into the startup ecosystem uncovering over 1,600 ground-breaking solutions, and producing thought-leadership and applied innovation reports for business partners including Digital Catapult, Createch, SRI, New West End Company, Deloitte and the World Retail Congress.My previous career spans across R&D, publishing, digital marketing, radio production, licensing and syndication. Whilst working for BBC Worldwide, I contributed to the growth of BBC Magazines’s international portfolio managing corporate events and providing access to content, branding and editorial guidance to over 60 licensed editions across 33 territories. More recently, I participated in two EU-funded research projects (Presto4U and PERICLES) working with a wide range of European museums, universities and software companies to support the delivery of open-source solutions and knowledge transfer in the digital preservation space.In my spare time, I enjoy producing podcasts, writing, kayaking and championing Tech for Good.
