Born and raised in Southern Oregon- a millworker’s daughter I spent the first 8 years of my life on (and off) a Shetland pony - you can’t break me. I grew up in rural Josephine County in a tiny 2 bedroom home sandwiched in between the neighborhood church and the Pine Cone Tavern. You could say I know a thing or two about variables in ‘community engagement’ and getting both sides to work together.When the lumber mills all shut down in the 90’s, my parents couldn’t afford to send us kids to college so they instead invested in a junior golf membership so my brothers and I could network our way into good jobs. We started at the bottom, we hustled, we learned a lot about grit and we all became successful. Turns out we all became pretty good at the game of golf too.Here I am today, still hustling for the industry that built me, broke me and built me back up. My heart will always be with the forestry and wood products sector. I will forever advocate for healthy forests and family wage jobs. As it should be…
