I have worked at the campus bookstore for a month twice yearly for the seasonal rush of students purchasing textbooks. At this job I manage the cash register, dealing with purchases, returns and book rentals. I assist with stocking clothing items and books and fulfilling orders placed online.

In this job I represented the colleges of Trent at various open house events. In the office, I took calls from students seeking to book appointments with support services in the college. I also took calls from students who were struggling to create their timetable for their next year at Trent, and provided help over the phone. I worked with other ambassadors to create and execute college-organized programming for orientation week. I organized 3 major events for the orientation week. The first was called "Faculty Facetime" where a panel of faculty were interviewed with a student audience to help new students feel comfortable around professors and recognize that they are just people too. This event required recruiting panelists, a host, organizing sound/tech support, providing refreshments, and organizing a department fair for students to attend after the panel. The second event was for mature and transfer students and had two components. THe first was a panel of students, staff and alumni from Trent who attended Trent as a mature and/or transfer student. This event helped new students network with eachother and have concerns and questions addressed before their classes began. The second event was entitled "Transfer Tapas" where students visited 5 booths that focused on different aspects of student life. At each booth they could eat Spanish food and talk with staff and students about the services and programs at Trent. THe final event I worked on was entitled "Brave Space" and ran for nearly 7 hours. THe event featured first a panel discussion on Allyship that I created and executed myself. This panel had students representing different marginalized communities speaking on what it means to be an ally for social justice. The rest of the event comprised of four workshops, each focused on a different area of social injustice (LGBTQ issues, racial inequality, indigenous issues and mental health).
