I participated in invaluable research opportunities on the water and in the lab. As part of SRI we sampled water quality, plant growth, and marine population at the Stamford Harbor in the Long Island Sound. Aboard the trawler boat, we would use nets and other equipment to gather marine species and take water samples. We also took visual observations of other coastal wildlife that depend on the Long Island Sound for their survival. On SRI lab days, we would collect data and make analyses based on previous and current findings. As a learning internship, we conducted independent research projects.Session 1 (September - December 2021)I compared water qualities at three distinct locations within Stamford Harbor to determine which areas were more polluted and how they could be improved.Project 2: (January - April 2022)I conducted a study on the correlation between snails, algae, and the water quality of the Sound. I observed the snails' consumption of several algae and took measurements of the water to see any changes in the chlorophyll and oxygen levels. I determined that snails are a vital part of the Sound’s ecosystem because they help balance the chlorophyll levels in the water which is crucial for the survival of many marine species.Project 3: (January - April 2023)I conducted an experiment to assess catalase activity in three specific locations within Stamford Harbor. I measured oxygen levels in water samples exposed to hydrogen peroxide to simulate pollution. Catalase, crucial for aquatic organisms, breaks down hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water which is safe for organisms. My hypothesis proposes that the most polluted site will exhibit elevated oxygen levels due to increased catalase production which is required for decomposing the excess hydrogen peroxide. The main goal was to develop a reliable method for detecting water pollution.

The EAC is a student driven club to recruit and educate high school students interested in environmental awareness and sustainability- Recruited and educated high school students on sustainability, leading campus cleanup and recycling initiatives- Managed the Instagram account, driving higher participation and community engagement in environmental events- Created slideshows, presentations, and flyers for school events

Coached group of four, eighth grade girls to prepare them for high school volleyball tryouts. Taught basic rules and fundamental skills in defense, offense and serving.
