The Community Engagement Specialist works to fulfill the Library’s Strategic Plan by developing the strategy of overall community engagement and communications, and leading the effort to develop collaborative relationships with other organizations. The Community Engagement Specialist works to increase the library’s visibility within the community and increase the community’s awareness of the library as an empowering community resource. The Community Engagement Specialist oversees communications and marketing materials reflecting key messages, features and benefits. Promotes Library services, collections and programs: increases communication with current Library customers; identifies underused services and develops strategies to increase usage; identifies nonusers and develops strategies to increase number of cardholders and participants.Coordinates and executes outreach programs and events.Manages customer communications: develops design of and context for monthly print and e-newsletter; coordinates social media presence and targeted email communications; develops relationships with local media and writes press releases to promote library services, events, and resources; promotes library events on community calendars and with other local organizations; creates high quality content for library website; manages customer comments and responsesLiaison to community organizations: Serves as library’s ambassador to the community.Develops, implements, and evaluates the marketing plan for the library system including patron and supporter retention campaigns.Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the library’s brand and graphic guidelines, as well as integration and alignment with the County brand. Leads the library’s comprehensive Turning Outward program, facilitating an array of community conversations.
