CurrentVisit patient rooms to gather needed insurance and financial informationConfirm eligibility and verifies insurance benefits.Ensure all necessary demographic and billing information is obtained for patients and entered in the computer system timely and accurately.Schedule appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.Explain financial responsibilities for services received, payment options, and collection procedures to patients and/or parties responsible for payment.Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits and recommends alternative sources of payment and/or financial assistance when appropriate.Collect payments and co-pays.Communicate effectively with insurance companies, external agencies, patients, physicians, and team members.Communicate with referring facilities regarding patient transfers and in conjunction with nursing, coordinate hospital wide bed control functions to provide the optimum placement of patients.Perform bed control dutiesAnswer internal and external calls; take requests for patient information, disperse the information with accountability to all regulatory entities and according to policies and procedures, and schedule outpatient appointments and tests accordingly.
