Updated: 2/4/23For 8.5 years, prior to my move to Florida I was the marketing manager for the pole company LEKI USA. I personally use poles to pump up my walk and still encourage folks of all abilities to use poles for hiking, exercise, balance, stability, skiing, and walking. Back in the 80's I taught group pre/post natal exercise at the local YMCA. I always loved the biomechanics of movement and so teaching people how to use poles responsibly became more important to me than just handing out poles at demos. In 2012 I became a certified AFAA Group Exercise Instructor and re-certify every 2 years with continuing education credits. This guided me towards new avenues...My interest in providing fitness for Active Agers increased and I was asked by support groups, physical therapists and the local hospital system for more inclusive exercise presentations. They wanted senior fitness both seated and standing but not necessarily walking or walking with poles. At age 64, after a year of concentrated study I took the 3-hour ACE Personal Trainer exam and passed. I now offer private and small group session training. ---NEW INFORMATION---NEW NAME---SAME POSITION!After 7.5 years with Lee Health, working at the Healthy Life Center...I am now a WellWay part-time employee!Lee Health partnered with WellWay about 4 years ago by bringing a consultant on board.
