As a co-teacher/ facilitator of Psychology of Dreams, I helped teach dream interpretation, dream analysis, and the necessary skills and strategies for the students to not only learn how to conduct a dream interview but also how to complete several dream interpretations.

Being victimized and going through the court system can be difficult and confusing. As a victim advocate who works in the criminal justice system, I support victims of crime by offering a variety of services ranging from legal assistance to emotional help. I have extensive experience in working with children, youth, and adults going through traumatic circumstances. I am currently a Victim Advocate for all high-profile, sex, homicide, felony, and domestic violence cases (Juvenile Division)I provide case management for approximately 250 cases in both Orange and Osceola County (Juvenile Division)I Complete all sex case intake interviews with ASA and preps clients for all judicial proceedingsI also provide crises counseling as well as connect clients with available victim services and counselingI attend all court proceeding with victims and familiesI liaison for courts, investigators, attorneys, and police on behalf of victim

Therapy is an essential component of healing for survivors of childhood sexual trauma. Child sexual abuse can be defined as any sexual contact between a child and another child or another person older than they are, usually an adolescent or adult. This includes touching, fondling, flashing, forced viewing of pornography, and prostitution, or any sexual act. Sexual abuse is very common in the United States. According to the statistics, one in four girls and one in six boys are abused before age 18, with the median age for abuse at just nine years old.Child victims almost always know their abuser. According to the National Center for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, 30% of child sex abusers are family members, 60% are known to the child in some other way (i.e. a babysitter, coach or teacher), and the remaining 10% are strangers.Sexual trauma can interrupt many of the normal developmental processes of childhood. Sexually abused children often exhibit emotional or behavioral characteristics that indicate distress. Children may fail to thrive as a result of the trauma. Children are affected in many different ways by sexual trauma. A therapist's understanding and support can help individuals to come to the place where they can gradually begin to trust. Psycho-therapy gives us the opportunity to explore and define our history and understand its effects upon our lives. Within the therapeutic setting, one can experience and work through self doubts. It provides an opportunity to rework the trauma so that the damaged parts can be integrated into greater selves. Support groups can provide a valuable supplement to psychotherapy. These groups create a context that allows survivors of sexual abuse to meet and interact with other individuals who are faced with similar issues. Talking about our abuse within the context of the group helps to diminish the underlying shame. It breaks the pattern of silence, secrecy and isolation that maintains the unhealthy family dynamics.

Assisted with planning and implementing group activities. Worked with "Voices for Women", the Rollins LGBT group on campus, and various activist against homelessness in the Central Florida area. As a special project, I assisted the Director with a team support gathering for a victim of sexual trauma the night before her trial. I also assisted the Office of Multicultural Affairs 

with creating an informational "victims" brochure for Rollins student body which informed students of protocol for reporting sexual assault on campus. I also participated in the "Take Back the Night" walk on campus!

In addition, it is our goal to encourage others through personal testimony and community service.
