As the Data Modelling Lead, I was responsible for leading the migration from the Netezza Data Warehouse onto GCP (Google Cloud Platform). Our main stakeholder was the Analytics Department where roughly 100 analysts needed to migrate all their siloed products onto the new platform. Through building central data models and avoiding work duplication, Virgin Media was slowly removing their dependency on third parties for the delivery and maintenance of data products. As a priority my team started to translate the ICOMS system key tables (work orders, customers, transactions) into new user friendly data models that are timely delivered. The Data Modelling Team works hand in hand with the Analytics Engineering Team that is responsible for tailoring data tools such as Github, DBT and Looker.

I led the migration from Amazon Redshift onto the BigQuery platform by designing the structure and QA processes of the global Data Warehouse across 3 brands, 12 countries and 3 time zones. The Data Modelling Data Warehouse was the single source of truth and embedded the business logic and KPI’s into the data models to ensure consistent and timely delivery of critical trade reports and data models. I trained an international team of 5 members and onboarded them onto the on-call process to ensure data was timely delivered in every time zone. The strength of my team was my ability to combine commercial knowledge with strong technical skills and stakeholder management. I was part of the data steering group to ensure data departments align in the delivery of data. My team supported ~100 analysts, country managers, the finance, legal and marketing department. We acted as a fast response team to key stakeholders such as the legal, finance and marketing departments. My team assisted with audits, legal enquiries and annual reports.
