Manager of the HCI Pillar-funded project Digital Academy for the Sustainable Built Environment (DASBE) coordinating, developing and managing energy efficiency, circular economy and digitalisation training and education programmes for the construction industry.

Working in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Building Research and Development at the Development Unit (DU) in LIT, Thurles. The DU is responsible for the implementation of a range of projects at national and EU level. These include quality energy-efficient / NZEB construction, sustainable and renewable products, climate change, trainings, social and community development, rural development. Responsibilities include the coordination of the implementation of large-scale research and development of EU projects, carry out research and reports in related sustainable energy. the preparation of EU funding applications e.g. Horizon 2020, Erasmus +, Interreg. Past Projects include: A2PBEER - Affordable and Adaptable Public Buildings through Energy Efficient Retrofitting providing Train the Trainer and trainings across Europe on energy efficient retrofitting Train-to-NZEB project - Network of Building Knowledge Hubs, BKHs, providing practical training, demonstrations and consulting services for NZEB in Europe.VET4LEC - 10 countries assessing the skills gap and shortages in the construction industry with an emphasis on low energy training. Current Projects Include:All.Con Blueprint - develop a new sectorial strategic approach to develop skills in the construction industry, support better matching between the skills needs of companies and training centres. 24 partners from 12 EU countriesBIMzeED - Training needs for the future construction industry to encourage 1) better employability 2) low-carbon growth 3) green and NZEB skills 4) increase in youth employment.
