As a member of Engineering Support, I have been responsible for performing daily monitoring tasks for the Global Engineering Cloud departments virtualized environment using Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 and System Center as well as VMWare vSphere 5.5 Web Client. Tasks include troubleshooting virtual machine configuration errors, missing VMs, Windows Remote Management (WinRM), Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), and cluster service errors, live migration tasks, placing hosts in maintenance mode for routine tasks. We process jobs from a priority based ticket queue. In conjunction with other team members, I have been involved with updating firmware on Cisco UCS B-series devices and Cisco Fabric Interconnects. In the data center tasks include installation of NetApp storage systems with attached disk shelves and configuring them with Clustered Data ONTAP; installing and configuring IBM x3650 M3 and M4 servers; installing Panduit fiber cassettes; performing time sensitive (1 hour maximum) Quick Touch break/fix tasks by troubleshooting and or replacing failed disks, establishing remote access via portable USB KVM switches for internal engineering customers, and verifying cable/port connectivity.
