•Coordinate medical, nutritional, mental health and/or therapeutic needs assessed for young families enrolled in Early Head Start of Burke, Caldwell and Alexander counties. •Conduct home visits, classroom visits and observations as needed to assess needs and support staff with plan of care for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women and their families. Offer bilingual supports.•Provide training, monitoring and technical assistance to insure adherence to federal requirements stated in the Early Head Start performance standards.•Work with community agencies such as Good Samaritan Clinic, local school systems, Children’s Developmental Services, Burke County Health Department, local dentists, etc. to provide resources and coordinate services to support to low income families.•Monitor database for Early Head Start offices in Burke, Caldwell and Alexander counties serving 200+ families.•Assist with grant writing to obtain funds for additional services for Early Head Start families such as nutrition classes and dental care.

•Provided bilingual supports for families with young children in areas of child development, health services coordination, parenting support and assistance in identifying and accessing resources through weekly home visits. •Provided bilingual Early Head Start supports to limited English speaking families through weekly home visits. Assist families with early intervention strategies for bilingual language development and help to build school readiness and to explore research based pathways to improve deficits. •Provided support to teen mothers with prenatal support through weekly home visits. Help design and administrate a weekly teen parent support group serving Caldwell County at the FIPP Resource Center. •Worked to build relationships with other community organizations to provide comprehensive supports to families in Caldwell County.

Responsible for foreign language curriculum design and implementation. Designed and taught a comprehensive, rigorous Spanish curriculum that allowed middle school students to receive high school credit for foreign language. Maintained high student interest in the foreign language program with over 150 students enrolled in Spanish I for the 2010-2011 school year.●Extensive experience in curriculum development - worked with local administration and staff at Appalachian University through a foreign language grant to develop an advanced curriculum that allowed 7th and 8th grade students to complete high school credit while in middle school. ●Taught reading remediation to 8th grade students,responsible for overseeing the accelerated reading program for 6th grade students, provided one-on-one feedback and instruction to improve reading comprehension.●Developed lesson plans to integrate new smartboard technology into instruction of English remediation/EOG review, Latin American culture and various Spanish grammar and vocabulary lessons.●Developed and used a wide variety of kid-friendly activities such as internet games, hands-on centers, drama and role play, and interactive smartboard lessons to motivate and engage children in the learning process.●Served as a teacher/mentor to students in need of remediation. Worked with parents and teachers to provide tutoring in deficit areas and to help students develop good habits and study skills.● Served as a parent liaison for Spanish-speaking families at Table Rock and other area schools.
