Environment America works for clean air, clean water, clean energy, wildlife and open spaces, and a livable climate. Our national policy staff, state office directors and outreach teams across the country work together to win real results. We investigate problems, craft solutions, educate the public and decision-makers, and help people make their voices heard. Environment America and Environment America Research & Policy Center (our sister 501(c)(3) organization) are part of The Public Interest Network, which operates and supports organizations committed to a shared vision of a better world and a strategic approach to social change.

The Public Interest Network operates and supports organizations committed to a shared vision of a better world and a strategic approach to social change. Our network includes the state Public Interest Research Groups, U.S. PIRG, state environmental groups in 29 states, Environment America, Environmental Action, Center for Public Interest Research, Community Action Works, Pesticide Watch, Green Century Capital Management, Green Corps, National Environmental Law Center, Frontier Group, Snowriders International, and Impact.

Goal: Achieve "Complete Streets" in the City of St. Petersburg through community organizing, education, and partnership.

The Multnomah Youth Commission is a group of 42 youth, ages 13 to 21, who serve as the official youth policy advisory body for the City of Portland and Multnomah County. Recent accomplishments include the YouthPass program which provides free public transit to all 13,000 Portland Public high school students, and a program to expand and improve school-based health centers.

Planned and organized events related to LGBTQIA issues and needs, including Coming Out Week, Gender Liberation Week, and Pride Week (20-30 events per semester).Convene and facilitate meetings of the GU Pride general members.

Inventoried PP&R interpretive signage in 12 parks and compiled report with recommendations.Conducted outreach to Spanish-speakers regarding the Lents Park Master Plan process.

Gave address on youth activism and youth-adult partnerships at TEDxCapital event.Created and edited resources such as the Semester of Service guide.Researched international service-learning standards.

Coordinated QPOWER youth (Queer Portlanders Organizing and Working for Equal Rights).Recruited and trained volunteers for Marriage Matters phonebanks and canvasses, who reached 17,000 voters throughout the summer.

We are the official youth policy advisory body for the City of Portland and Multnomah County. As policy liaison, I assist in planning and running meetings, support the youth who are liaisons to all local elected officials, and handle many different policy matters that come before the Youth Commission (such as developing our budget priorities for the City of Portland and Multnomah County). I am also on the YouthPass Committee which works to provide free transit passes to all local high school students, and am a member of the Coordinating Committee.

Researched and wrote report of youth programs provided by City bureaus.Coordinated implementation of "Our Bill of Rights, Children and Youth."Assisted the Multnomah Youth Commission.
