A firm believer in “Do what you love, love what you do”, I view my current teaching career as a calling, and continue to embrace every new year as as an exciting challenge. To meet the growing challenges in education today, I have taken advantage of every opportunity available to me in order to perfect my craft as a professional educator. I am currently pursuing my Ed Tech endorsement, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology. I fast-tracked a 2 year “science of reading”. training program (LETRS) and completed it in half the time. I also turned a personal weakness into a strength by concurrently enrolling in two 9-month math courses that have given me access to the some of the most innovative advances in elementary math education. Driven by my enthusiasm for all that I am learning,I am usually one of the first to jump in and try something new as I continue to explore ways to improve my craft and become an innovator in my field. Before teaching, I had a cumulative 6+ years experience in HR management; This career path was fulfilling in it’s own way. My talents in communication (both verbal and written), my work ethic, and my creative, out-of-the-box problem-solving skills were well-utilized in this field; While I am currently immersed in my career as an educator, when the time is right, I plan to someday switch gears and add to my experience and expertise in the HR field. HR management capitalizes on my strengths in communication, interpersonal relationships, and resourcefulness. I am a self-starter, and know how to find answers. The next stop in my higher education journey will be focused on HR.Regardless of my profession at the time, I have always been an enthusiastic learner, which has made me an even more effective teacher; I am driven to eventually become an expert in whatever field or opportunity for growth I may encounter.While becoming a better version of myself brings me great personal satisfaction, if I am in some way able to leave others better for having known me, then I will have achieved my personal definition of “the ultimate success”.
