Project: Redox modulating compounds as treatment strategy for Parkinson’s DiseaseThe focus of the project was to evaluate the therapeutic potential of ROS-redox modulators on the Parkinson’s Disease (PD) phenotype in several PD animal models, such as the Pink1 knockout rat, 6-OHDA rat and MPTP mouse. By using neuroimaging methods (i.e. DTI, fMRI and SPECT), behavioural paradigms focused on motor- and non-motor symptoms and molecular-, cellular- and biochemical analysis of brain plus muscle tissue, we predicted to find disease modifying effects on one or more outcome measures.
