As a seasoned earned media practitioner and team leader, I am proud of my track record guiding clients and colleagues through the ever-changing media landscape. My experience includes dozens of the world’s most respected brands such as Pepsi, Chipotle, Campbell’s, Dove, Schick, Volkswagen, REI, Lowe’s, Scholastic and WNYC (NY Public Radio).Some of the biggest earned media moments of the last several years were a result of my client collaborations, including outdoor retail giant, REI’s, decision to close their stores on Black Friday to encourage shoppers to #OptOutside. This changed the conversation around consumer consumption and highlighted the importance of the outdoors. Many of the stories about Super Bowl advertising you seen or read in the last two decades, including the decision to release VW’s “Star Wars” inspired ad featuring a little boy dressed as Darth Vader nearly two weeks before the game, was a result of my work. Being versatile has made me equally confident to promote historically significant events including the opening of the National September 11th Memorial and Museum and as well as pop culture events (such as an exhibition devoted to the props and costumes from the Harry Potter films).I’ve mentored and managed two generations of top-performing communications professionals with patience, humor and a positive outlook, often meeting them at the entry level and seeing them rise to accomplished senior leads. I love sharing my learnings with my clients and colleagues getting us all to the best possible work and solutions to drive the clients’ business goals. My consumption of news, popular culture and sports fuels my creativity and builds and maintains my network of reporters, editors and producers in national and local media. My guest-wrangling and hosting duty of dozens of “meet the media” panels for the Publicity Club of New York keeps me current on what is best way to work with journalists in a disrupted media environment.Because a strong central character is necessary for any story, I’ve pushed our clients to consider their employees, customers or charitable recipients as the most powerful advocates of their brand. Knowing social media amplification of earned stories is essential, I’ve championed data-driven earned media strategies as well as the storylines which pop in organic search. To engage at integrated agency meetings, I’ve taken classes in podcast production, data journalism and SEO writing, and focused on the impact of affiliate marketing on product publicity.
