With over 20 years of forecasting experience with the National Weather Service, including over a decade as an incident meteorologist, I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to remain engaged with fire weather and use a new lens to view it with as a meteorologist in the utility sector. My priority remains to protect lives and property with forecasts and decision support. These recent unprecedented weather event years are requiring that the science is put into terms the public and those in policy can comprehend so they can act accordingly. This is a skill I have and continue to master as it will only become more important as we see more climate impacts. I'll continue to remain involved in education of fire weather as we continue to see these larger, more intense, and longer lasting wildfires our world is experiencing due to climate change.
