Recently I completed the drawings for a Thai restaurant, converting a house into a garden restaurant. Emphasizing the flow from indoors to outdoors, with a large emphasis on beautiful landscaping and alfresco dining, I designed and prepared drawings on Revit for the client and for council approval. This project was completed… Show more Recently I completed the drawings for a Thai restaurant, converting a house into a garden restaurant. Emphasizing the flow from indoors to outdoors, with a large emphasis on beautiful landscaping and alfresco dining, I designed and prepared drawings on Revit for the client and for council approval. In June 2016, I project managed and co-ordinated the fit-out and relocation of CSG Business Solutions' new offices from West End to Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. This project was completed within a tight deadline, with no interruption to CSG's day-to-day business, and was a great success. I co-ordinated the fit-out of the new office, the renovations to include a showroom in the new space and the organisation of the relocation services. My services also included the preparation of the new space for tenancy and also the exit of the old offices. Currently I am available to work on contract or free-lance on projects. As you can see, my experience is varied and I can take on any challenge. I listen to what the client wants, and working together, to design the space so it looks as the client has envisaged. I am a very good researcher and finder, so if there is a certain material, a certain way something needs to be made, I will find this item or this person(s) who will make it so! I joined MVA Engineering as a draftsperson for Electrical Engineering drawings on AutoCAD but soon took over the management of the business, doing Payroll, Accounts, HR and Administration. In the 5 and a half years I was there, I have successfully prepared tender packages to win work with BMA, QGC and Shell, just to name a few. In the 5 and a half years I was there, I have successfully prepared tender packages to win work with BMA, QGC and Shell, just to name a few. I have also prepared documentation and applied for our registration as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for High Voltage and Hazardous Area Training, which we successfully achieved in 2013. The preparation for this registration involved intense research and planning, together with the design of the RTO as a viable training space. I designed the training rooms, break out areas, reception areas and also the High Voltage Switchroom where the students undergo a practical assessment. The RTO is the most proud achievement in my life and I am happy to say that I was the lead in this very ambitious project. I left MVA to pursue more design-oriented work, to move away from the administration jobs that I had been doing for a long time. Show less

Now in Brisbane, I have been working with Architectural Landscapes, planning and designing residential landscapes and also landscaping for property developers. A lot of the work had to fit in with council boundaries and limitations and also had to be planned so it does not hinder plumbing and drainage services. This project involved designing the dining and kitchen spaces, together with working woth the Brisbane City Council and Mechanical Engineers so that the cafe was compliant with all legislation, through to designing the logo, menus and signage. As I was now starting to send out invoices for my work, I also learnt MYOB and picked up administration skills to run our business, which I shared with my husband who was contracted on Electrical Engineering projects. Working with a prestigious company like Woods Bagot opened up a lot of opportunities for me. It was an excellent workplace and the projects were exciting and interesting and with each project I learnt more about different industries, its challenges and the different legislative requirements in needs to adhere to. We worked on a lot of projects within the educational sector such as Curtin University and Perth Modern School. Contracted to Lui Design in Hong Kong, we worked together on Ascot Chang Bespoke Tailors in Gateway 66, Shanghai. The upmarket brand was looking to refresh it's company image for a younger market, but still maintaining it's prestige in the high-end fashion market. From furniture to display cabinetry and work areas where the clothes were tailored, I designed and planned spaces and elements to the client's specifications.

Cicada Design offered me a large variety of projects, from men's clothing store HD to food court kiosks. The projects were mainly retail with clients like Kodak Express. Because I worked from home, working with Cicada honed my time management skills and allowed me to do a lot more within a project such as design concepts, sketch illustrations to present to the client, liaise with the project builders and plan timelines.
