I am an experienced teacher of French, German and Spanish who has over 34 years of classroom experience teaching in the UK and Switzerland. I have taught in a range of different schools and organisations. During my career I have taught students from age 11 to 18. I have also taught adults. I have taught students who were complete beginners in the language and also students who were more advanced in their language studies. During the Covid pandemic I was required to teach online for many months. I took the time to train myself in the tools of online teaching and learning and am now adept at teaching using a range of tools online. I currently tutor online and have experience of teaching online using MS teams and Zoom. My teaching methods are dynamic and interactive with lots of opportunities for learners to use and to practise the language. My methods are motivating and enjoyable and I develop good relationships with my learners. Learning the culture of the target language countries is something I firmly believe has a key place in the learning of the language, so my lessons are also culturally rich. Over my years of teaching I have also been a Head of Department and have run a teacher training hub, mentoring and coaching new and trainee teachers. I am organised and efficient. In addition to my teaching based experience, I have also co-written a number of textbooks for learners of French and German and have written online teaching and learning products in French, German and Spanish.I am looking for a part-time position which I could fit around my other work commitments. I am flexible with my time and am open to interesting and varied opportunities.
