For the past 17 years I have worked as a laboratory analyst/assistant for two different employees. I had been in my recent role for the last 6 months, before leaving due to the arthritis in my knees becoming more aggressive and reducing my mobility, making it impracticable and unsafe to for me to work in a laboratory environment. Therefore, I now need to pursue a new challenge in a different field, where I can be safely sat at a desk for the majority of the work day. Since October 2023, I have been working as a recruitment administrator at a children's home covering tasks such as initial shortlisting, scheduling and taking part in interviews, updating candidates with regards to their applications and checking over new HR files. I am used to processing and analysing accurately large amounts of data and have experience in the Microsoft Office packages including excel, outlook, and access. In my roles throughout the last 22 years, I have worked within varied roles, starting with customer service roles at the beginning of my career at Royal Mail, and then Agilisys. During this I time I dealt with enquires from mortgage companies, employees, DWP, arranging hotel booking and some basic invoicing and accounts payable. Later, during my laboratory analyst roles, I worked within a DWTS ad UKAS and DWTS accredited laboratory. Duties included the analysis of nutrients by discrete analyser, cyanide analysis by continuous flow, and oxyhalide analysis by ion chromatography. Other duties included analysis of metals analysis using ICP-OES & ICP MS, TOC and radioactivity analysis. From May 2020 to the end of my employment at ALS in October 2022, I ran the AQC preparation laboratory where I prepared the potable chemistry and waste chemistry's routine quality check standards. In addition to this I prepared the external proficiency schemes for analysis by the potable, organics and waste chemistry teams. I also prepared and started to routinely prepare internal proficiency scheme tests for the organic chemistry team.In October 2022 I made the move to the Technical & Environmental team as a laboratory assistant at Renewi. I feel that throughout my career I have learnt a lot of transferable skills from my prior roles and I am confident that I will be able to learn a new role quickly and become a valued member of the team.
