2001 – Present: Health and Safety Adviser Odeon UCI Cinema Group (OCG)Working within Risk Management supporting the cinemas and support offices whilst embodying the company visions and values,Key Responsibilities• Complete and review the risk assessment programmes • Provide competent advice on fire, health and safety .• Liase with enforcement authorities.• Implement the operational support program as required• Monitor and report to senior management, on all forms of Safety & Security Incidents and follow up where necessary to ensure appropriate remedial action have or will be taken. • Comment on and support refurbishments and new builds as part of the Project team • Manage the pest control contract reporting progress to the Operations Director.• Liase with facilities to drive standards in site. Key Achievements• I have developed contingency plans regarding actions to take in the event of loss of a key safety feature that allows, under the right circumstances, the cinemas to remain open and trade safely and legally. The benefits are reduction in lost profit and the reduction of payroll whilst dealing with the issue that requires resolve. • I provided technical input to transfer cinema training from paper to an on line experience to ensure the teams have measurable bespoke operational training that matches the risk in the business as opposed to off the shelf training that would not meet the company needs,• Both devised and oversaw a bespoke GM induction training and Support program designed to meet the needs of the business which arose from organisational changes that required intense, cinema specific training to support key holder and other operational training programs required to ensure safety is met at site. • Introduced Safe Contractor scheme to the business to ensure contractor standards are met and reduce the burden of managing this internally• Selected the legionella Risk Assessment contractor and oversaw the program.

Key ResponsibilitiesWithin the role of Health and Safety Manager my key responsibilities included:• Undertaking and reviewing the risk assessment programs • Providing competent advice on fire and health and safety issues.• Liason with enforcement authorities.• Providing technical advice to assist with the development of an expanding business which was 25 stores being built from the ground per year at my time in post. Key Achievements• Introduction of a General Manager training program with particular reference of Induction. • Identified 3 key areas of risk within my tenure which I was able to eliminate/reduce which had a positive impact on customer satisfaction and insurance matters.Whilst here I self funded my training and qualifications and passed Level I Nebosh Diploma giving me the title Technical Safety Practitioner.

Key Responsibilities• Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager whilst working with a team of 3 officers• Undertaking Audits, Risk Assesment and Training for 120 sites. Key Achievements• Littlewoods amalgamated its 5 divisions and I was responsible for the harmonisation of standards regarding policies and procedures when the department became “Group” across 340 sites.• Training of new policies and procedures to the teams.

Key Responsibilities• During this time I started as a Warehouse Operative and undertook all roles within the operation whilst working at that level. • I was a Safety Representative and oversaw Safety of the Bolton Area which included, Returns, Distribution, Picking and Packing Operations and Transport.• I moved to a management role at 24 and supervised on all departments ensuring targets were met and the work flowed correctly. I also oversaw Quality Control. • I was responsible for ensuring jobs were completed in the smallest number of steps required to ensure maximum gains. Kaizen and Lean 5 philosphies were enshrined in the business. Key Acheivements• I took the role of Safety Representative aged 18 for the 5 Mills that the Littlewoods Group worked from in the Bolton Area.• I won a national award that was based on my Safety Work in 1989. • I was put forward for Cosmopolitan Woman of the year 1990 and was a finalist in the politics section (10 ladies per section). • I studied at night school alongside my full time job to move in to a Safety role. I moved to another Division of the Littlewoods Group which was Index Stores. I would later return to Warehousing and Home Shopping when the business became Group.
