Sorority House Director
CurrentAs the House Director for the Alpha Phi sorority at Michigan State University, I manage the daily operations and maintenance of a historic, 87-year-old property that is home to 51 sorority members. Living in the house 24/7, I ensure a safe, comfortable, and supportive living environment that aligns with both the needs of the residents and the standards of the sorority.Responsibilities include: Property Management: Oversee all aspects of house maintenance, including regular checks and upkeep of essential systems like internet connectivity, heating, and plumbing. Safety & Security: Maintain and monitor the house’s security system, including cameras and an automatic door-locking system, to ensure the safety and peace of mind of all residents. Resident-Focused Dining: Collaborate with the cooking staff to provide diet-friendly meals that accommodate the diverse dietary needs of the residents, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious and enjoyable options. Preventative Maintenance: Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance tasks to address and resolve issues proactively, ensuring the longevity of the property’s structure and systems. Vendor Coordination: Partner with vendors for necessary repairs, maintenance, and upgrades, ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. Grounds Oversight: Manage the appearance and maintenance of the surrounding grounds, contributing to a welcoming and well-kept environment. Resident Support: Work closely with Alpha Phi members to provide a comfortable and secure home, fostering a supportive and respectful community atmosphere.This role requires a blend of property management, safety oversight, dietary coordination, and strong interpersonal skills to support a thriving residential community within the university setting.
