Site Leader, Amazon Dx Diagnostic Lab
    Amazon Feb 2021 - Mar 2022
    Hebron, Kentucky, United States
Wow - what an absolute honor. The pandemic was a wild ride for everyone. Before cleaning out my office to start my next Amazon adventure with a new role within AWS, I couldn't help but reflect back on this role. In April of 2020, I had just returned to work virtually from a maternity leave and already had 5 months of isolation at home with my newborn. During this time most of us were baking banana bread, thanking our delivery drivers and busy doing our part to flatten the curve. This was when testing capacity was extremely constrained and vaccinations were still a dream. All the while Amazon was busy deploying hundreds of new safety protocols to keep our front line employees safe. This included the construction and launch of a clinical laboratory (inside of a warehouse) under an FDA Emergency Use Authorization to provide access to timely, free and voluntary COVID-19 PCR testing to all 1M+ frontline operations employees, delivery partners, contractors and vendors.By February 2021, I was humbled to join a strong group of mission driven colleagues as the Site Leader of Amazon’s single COVID-19 Clinical Laboratory in the US here in Hebron, KY. I joined hundreds of people who had already been pulled from their day jobs in tech, product/program management, supply chain and operations roles to make it happen. We hired Lab Directors, Clinical Scientists/Managers, hardware and medical equipment engineers, the list goes on. By Mid-2021 we had achieved the gold standard accreditation's for a PCR lab with meeting all industry CAP/CLIA and ISO audit requirements. During this time we expanded our single product test to sell direct to consumers.I’m proud of my work to provide a safe and engaging environment for my team to produce high quality results. While also doing our part to keep our front line employees safe and able to show up for work during a time when customers have relied on packages to keep showing up at their front door.
  • Amazon
    Senior Manager, Amazon Imaging
    Amazon Apr 2017 - Feb 2021
    Hebron, Kentucky (Cincinnati Area)
After 7 years within the consumer Reverse Logistics side of Amazon I pivoted my leadership skills to learn a completely new part of the business within Product Imaging. I led product imaging photo studios for Softlines product lines for both Amazon and Zappos; including Apparel, Jewelry, Shoes, Handbags and Watches. I admire Amazon's use of amazing imaging technology coupled with strong operational processes and talented creative studio teams. All of this makes it look effortless to provide our customers with truly world class imaging to enable an amazing shopping experience. Whether it's the video shot of all sides and angles of a beautiful watch or necklace or providing the proper scale for images of bracelets versus small hoop earrings. Oh and the handbags! So many beautiful things.Within this role I expanded my scope over time to also lead continuous improvement supporting our global network of Amazon Imaging Photo Studios along with 3D and Post Production operations. Our organization worked together to produce creative content within the media block (ex product images, videos, etc.) on product detail pages. We also created content to power other image based experiences (ex AR/VR, Hardlines Showroom), in addition to imaging content to support other marketing and social campaigns. My team was comprised of Program and Product Managers, Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers and Business Analysts focused on 3 core themes; 1) Continuous improvement through both operational processes and technology, 2) Launching Imaging in new Amazon retail marketplaces globally and 3) Operations Integration for emerging business models like Imaging as a Service for Selling Partners. It was an honor to work with such a diverse range of skill sets across the traditional business, tech and operations + arts and sciences, to provide a visually enriched shopping experience for Amazon customers globally. To accomplish all of this at Amazon scale globally is truly remarkable.
  • Amazon
Senior Manager, Product Management Global Warehouse Deals Operations
    Amazon May 2012 - Apr 2017
    Hebron, Kentucky (Cincinnati Area)
The business function of my team was to maximize financial recovery (globally) for unsellable customer returns and fulfillment center damages that could not be returned to the vendor. My team was the operational arm to support worldwide fulfillment centers in activities related to Grading, Repair/Refurbish, Liquidation, Recycling, Donations and related sortation in order to increase sellable yield (and recovery $$) and add quality products into the used marketplace for customers via our customer facing listings. As I built a strong foundation and scaled my team in parallel with Amazon growth, my scope expanded to lead product and systems development for Global Functional Grading, External Repair Vendor Management, Product Management and continued partnership with global FC Operations leadership teams. This role was a great experience to support a broad range of sites and marketplace and country launches for Amazon across the US, Europe and China. Learning Manager - Reverse Logistics
    Amazon Jan 2011 - Aug 2011
    Lexington, Kentucky
LEX2 Reverse Logistics - Customer Returns, Vendor Returns, Warehouse Deals Grading and Repair and Textbook Trade-In.Partnered closely with Operations teams to standardize processes and document training in order to improve the training experience for cross-training current associates and to streamline the learning process for new associates. ie, taking complicated exception based processes and making the process easier which then makes the training easier, which then makes for happier, more productive and less frustrated employees coming to work everyday. Oh and as an Amazon customer you will get your return processed timely and accurately as it arrives into the process. Yes, real life people really read all of that fun free text feedback on reasons for a return. The handwritten notes of appreciation were always my favorite.

    Area Manager - Customer Returns
    Amazon.Com Nov 2009 - Jan 2011
    Lexington, Kentucky Area
If you’re still reading just know that this role was the most challenging and rewarding experience of my career. It was a pivotal time of the first years of 30-40% YoY retail growth and the small % of returns (of alot lol) turns out to be a lot. 😆 Such hard work but had a blast working in the process with my team and pulling in resources from everywhere to build a foundation for our tools, systems and process to scale more efficiently. Name any product A-Z and I’ll have a fun returns story to tell. 😅LEX2 Reverse Logistics - Customer ReturnsBuilt and established network best practices as well as consistently worked in the process with my team of 150 associates and established persona as a Subject Matter Expert for the Customer Returns process. This drove close partnerships with Software Development Engineers for feature requests for the Returns User Interface software and ultimately an easier process for my team at LEX2 and Customer Returns worldwide.Extremely honored to be a part of a "Tools for Success" Kaizen team which was recognized as the Amazon.com Kaizen of the Year for 2011. Our team was recognized with a coveted 'Door Desk Award" by Jeff Bezos and the project was financially validated to save $1.29 million. Ultimately over a period of months the Kaizen created workstation standardization of physical and virtual tools needed for our associates to properly perform their jobs. Sounds pretty simple but took our team a lot of hard work and discipline to first recognize the issues and then not only do something about it but also to make it sustainable.

  • Limited Brands
    Freelance Fit Model
    Limited Brands Jan 1999 - Oct 2007
    Columbus, Ohio Area
-Experience working closely with global garment designers, merchants, buyers and brand managers in the Columbus, Ohio and New York markets for Limited Brands and Abercrombie & Fitch. I had to move on when I started to think the Technical Designers actually wanted to saw down (like with a real bone saw) my shoulder blades because as they said over the years "they stick out just a little too far". J/K. Amazing experience to work with talented teams across the garment industry. This was the first fuel for my fire and passion to work in the retail and logistics world. So you're welcome if over the past ~20 (GASP!) or so years you have ever purchased anything from any of the Limited brands brands (or Limited brands of the past) and it fit you exactly right. Even the multiple colors of your favorite t-shirt which is manufactured in most likely 4 different countries and maybe 10 different factories from cotton sourced from everywhere and they all fit the same. Over the years I've taken advantage of great opportunities to work with talented people across various industries. I've challenged myself to not only insist on higher standards for myself and my work but to also never be the smartest person in the room. As companies are consistently improving to continue to adapt and create value we all play a role in problem solving and providing unique solutions.
