I was a trusted advisor to the Director of Environment and Planning. I provided high-level executive support, prepared and coordinated advice, and managed projects to support the achievement of the Directorate's objectives. My work was diverse and no two days were the same!

The Central Coast is one of the fastest growing regions in NSW and is the 6th largest Local Government Area in Australia.My primary focus in this role was the proactive release of Council held information with the aim of improving organisational transparency and increasing community trust in Council. I believe that information is an important organisational asset that will be central to future innovation. In May 2019 I initiated and organised Council’s inaugural Information Awareness Month to raise awareness of access to information compliance aspects, and also the opportunities to innovate with information. I communicated key messages through screensavers, posters and articles in the staff newsletter. I also organised two internal thought leadership events - Opening Up Central Coast Council: A Conversation about information, technology and the Central Coast Community. These events were well attended and prompted great feedback, for example: “Engaging presenters, facilitators...pre questions were a great segway for conversation. Lively and casual. Well attended, even the CEO popped in. Real life culture speaks greater than words…”In this role I was also involved in privacy policy, providing privacy advice and undertaking Privacy Impact Assessments.

Why buy when you can share? Open Shed was an online peer-to-peer rental and social connection platform transforming the way Australians connect with each other and connect with their stuff. In this role I was a jack-of-all-trades:Business strategy and set upProject management using agile and lean practices“Face of the business” activities including public speaking and media interviewsCustomer serviceSocial media / marketing strategy and implementationPartnerships managerCommunity managerEvent organiserAs a team of two we built a custom platform that transformed the way Australians connected with their stuff and each other. During Open Shed’s 6 years of operation we facilitated 1000s of rental transactions between Australians. Through the platform our members earned a little extra cash, saved some money or simply felt good about sharing! We also worked with our charity partner OzHarvest to fund 1000s of meals by giving our members an option to donate their rental fee.In our first year of operation Open Shed was selected to be 1 of 5 teams to participate in the inaugural clean technology accelerator program, Ignition Labs. The three-month program was inspired by Startmate. We received intensive mentoring, seed capital, the opportunity to regularly pitch in Australia and the United States. Open Shed also achieved a global first by forming a commercial partnership with Australia's largest residential property developer Stockland to pilot our service in 6 residential communities over a 12 month period. Open Shed ceased operations in February 2018. Our final message to our community can be found on on the Open Shed facebook page.

I was the Australian Ambassador for the Collaborative Consumption Global network initiated by Rachel Botsman and Lauren Anderson.In 2012 I organised the first gathering of Australian Collaborative Consumption businesses in Sydney to facilitate connections and encourage collaboration. Rachel Botsman and City of Sydney senior representatives were key speakers. The event was very well attended with over 80 people participating. This event resulted in a range of collaborations between attendees. I organised and facilitated the City of Sydney’s Collaborative Consumption workshop “Share Sydney” in August 2013. The workshop was attended by over 50 residents and very well received. I also assisted with, as well as contributed to the City of Sydney’s sponsored "Share Sydney Guide" insert in Time Out Sydney Magazine. I was a speaker at various Conferences and Events, such as Vivid, Thriving Neighbourhoods Conference and CBA Women In Focus Conference.

In this role I was responsible for policy development and legislation related to NSW Courts and Tribunals, as well as Industrial Relations, Electronic Transactions and matters relating to children.

Specialised: Counter Terrorism Policy, Telecommunications and Interception Policy, Mutual Assistance and Part IV of the Crimes Act (Federal Offenders). Examples of my varied work include:As a Legal Officer with the Mutual Assistance section I had responsibility for a large caseload dealing with foreign government-to-government assistance requests in criminal matters. I drafted letters and submissions; consulted and negotiated with Australian and foreign law enforcement and government agencies.I developed and presented an information session on mutual assistance at a Workshop on the Cooperation in Counter Terrorism in Indonesia. As the Australian mutual assistance representative I also led a Question and Answer session and facilitated workshop sessions. The three day workshop involved government officials, law enforcement officers and prosecutors from 15 countries.I effectively presented the Commonwealth’s views on a number of corrective service issues in a meeting predominantly attended by State and Territory Corrective Services Commissioners. As a Senior Legal Officer and Acting Director for the Federal Offenders Unit I prepared and finalised casework and policy related submissions and briefings for the then Minister for Home Affairs and the Attorney General. These included submissions providing recommendations on parole for Federal Offenders.Provided policy, legal and administrative support, as secretariat officer to the high-level Security Legislation Review Committee over a 6-month period in 2006. I also coordinated the public consultations and organised four public hearings across Australia. I was personally commended for my significant contribution in the Committee’s report to Parliament.
