As a community outreach coordinator for the Houston Parks Board, I developed and implemented the organization's first, proactive community outreach strategy to ensure all communities have the opportunity to share their ideas and help us learn what is important to them. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Area

• As a spokeswoman and community relations coordinator at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, my focus included accurately communicating key environmental issues to the general public and media.
• Facilitating public hearings and meetings so community members could learn, voice comments and ask questions about the department's actions
• Providing members of the media with clear, concise quotes and information about environmental issues
• Creating news releases, newsletters, articles, talking points and speeches
• Updating the department’s website which included creating new content and coordinating multiple meetings with staff and technology teamsMy time with the department also focused on internal communications which included:
• Assisting and presenting at a statewide training across eight regional offices on public speaking and presentations which reached over 200 employees

• I started out as a lifeguard at the YMCA but transitioned to other numerous roles as pool manager and customer service representative. During my time with the YMCA, I achieved the following:
• Created monthly lifeguard schedules and co-directed staff meetings
• Trained a total of 15 new lifeguards for their job
• Created a manual for lifeguard duties and roles that is still currently used for training lifegards
• Gave tours of the YMCA, registered people for classes, handled account transactions and directed visitors

• During this internship, I interned for Pennsylvania State Representative Jerry Stern at his disctrict office. I took this opportunity as a key stepping stone to my future career. It also helped me focus in on what I.
• The county's first “Going Green” fair where local companies were invited to showcase their environmental products
• A community spaghetti dinner where the representative's constituents could meet the representative
• Two open house events for the representative's office during which constituents could visit the office after-hours for services.
