Over the course of five wonderful years I held the positions of Secretary, Marketing and Communications and Professional Development working group chair. With the other Committee Trustees I helped to manage the Association for Heritage Interpretation which works to:- Encourage excellence in interpretation- Promote professionalism in interpretation- Facilitate discussion and exchange of ideas- Support a wide range of organisations in their service to visitors- Develop and recognise best practice

I worked on the capital redevelopment of the Museum of Wigan Life. I played a key role in the Exhibition Team where I worked on the new permanent exhibition, responded to designs, developed and produced interpretive text, undertook picture research, developed interactives, supervised fit-out and installed museum objects. I developed and implemented the temporary exhibition programme, which included working with local communities to produce exhibitions.I produced an interpretation plan for Astley Green Colliery Museum, which was submitted as evidence for a Heritage Lottery Fund grant applicationI consulted staff, undertook research and wrote Wigan Heritage Service's interpretation strategy. I provided an advisory role for heritage interpretation in the Wigan Borough.

I was responsible for the day-to-day management of the HLF Access to Archaeology project, which sought to broaden access to the historic environment of the Lake District National Park.I developed and managed the implementation of:An exhibition; six interpretive leaflets; a Key Stage 2 'Romans in the Lake District' resource; a Key Stage 3 'Industrial sites in the Lake District' resource; new website content and online games; an outreach programme; accessible descriptions in the Lake District Historic Environment database.

I liaised with metal detectorists in Cumbria and recorded their finds. I also developed displays of their finds in Kendal Museum.

I worked for various archaeological contractors including:- Oxford Archaeology North- Liverpool Museum Field Archaeology Unit- Northamptonshire Archaeology- Earthworks ArchaeologyI worked on archaeolgical sites across the UK. Excavating, recording, surveying, building recording, finds processing, photography and researching.
