About Lisa Lombard, Ph.D.

Lisa Lombard, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years experience, has an independent private practice where she treats children and adults experiencing anxiety and stress-mediated health concerns/pain. Her practice also has a focus on caring for children and parents impacted by unexpected bereavement and traumatic loss. She has been a school-based clinical psychologist for over a decade, providing clinical and consultative services from a whole child perspective. This includes consultation to schools regarding SEL programs and digital health.She is a former Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (CFAAR), where she researched psychosocial factors related to chronic health conditions, particularlyfood allergies, and explored the use of VR as an adjunctive self-directed coping tool. She continues to provide clinical services and professional training related to coping with food allergies and atopic dermatitis. She is also a psychological advisor for Alerje, a start-up firm with a multi-disciplinary app for patients engaged in oral immunotherapy (OIT). During the first two years of the covid pandemic she led the creation of a free, web-based platform of tiered behavioral health supports for faculty and healthcare providers.In March 2022 she co-ounded an initiative, Comfort Kits for Children, in collaboration withNPHTI and Health Frontiers. Now a separate nonprofit, they have sent nearly 1000 kits withbehavioral guidance pamphlets to children and caregivers impacted by the war inUkraine. These kits provide children with a form of psychological first aid (toys andpractices to re-regulate emotions and begin healing) after exposure to trauma. Theorganization expanded its mission in Chicago and other US communities impacted bygun violence and trauma.She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology/Human Development from the University ofChicago. As a member of Dr. Erika Fromm’s hypnosis research lab, she co-authored several papers related to self-hypnosis. She completed an APA-approved internship at the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute. She is an ASCH Approved Consultant and former President of the Chicago Society for Clinical Hypnosis. She is the APA Division 30 (Society of Psychological Hypnosis) Council Representative and former Clinical Section Head of the Illinois Psychological Association. She trains other health care professionals as a faculty member for the National Pediatric Hypnosis Training Institute (NPHTI) and was elected President of their Board of Directors in January 2021.
