I help JA create, align, and refine educational content for learners from kindergarten through young adulthood.I acted as an SME for financial literacy lessons, researching and writing content outlines as the first person in a long production chain to create self-paced digital lessons for the JA website. I tailored each of the 15 lessons to JA learning objectives and ensured the reading level of the content was at an 8th grade level or below.I help improve the quality of existing print and web content by meticulously following a detailed checklist to make notes of necessary revisions and edits to existing print and web content. I improved the efficiency of the existing correlations process by implementing Excel to convert Common Core standards to state standards. As a General Writer, I worked collaboratively with CMs and other writers to edit copy created by SMEs into Help Center instructions for the general population. Once I edited the copy to fit Google's style guide, I staged it for publishing in HTML in Google's Content Management System (CMS). I trained generative AI for 6 weeks by writing prompts, evaluating the quality and factuality of the AI responses, and researching or rewriting responses. I used Markdown to format the final drafts of the copy.In addition to my writing role, I voluntarily helped facilitate a weekly collaborative professional development session for writers.

In the 2018-2019 school year, my special education department hired 4 new case managers. By the end of that year, we lost half of them. When 6 more new case managers were hired in 2019, our campus leaders asked me to coach the new case managers.In this undefined role, I developed systems for meeting with busy teachers and coached them through the complicated and ambiguous processes that come with the job. I helped document the unwritten rules and processes our department followed, provided models for efficient multi-tasking and time management, and coached case managers one-on-one as they learned the processes of writing legal paperwork and managing the education of students with disabilities. By the end of the school year, all 6 of the new hires stayed on for the next school year, even with the complications of the pandemic.

As a student council sponsor, I was an event planner and project manager who oversaw the work of 12 teenagers to coordinate events. Under my leadership, the organization networked with campus leaders and created and refined systems of communication, project management, evaluation, and goal-setting.We revamped McNeil High School's fall carnival by proposing a key location change that required coordination with district stakeholders and law enforcement. I helped coordinate over twenty student organizations to raise money and provided a safe and fun evening for students. Another new initiative under my supervision was a Veteran's Day ceremony. We invited a University of Texas football player and military veteran to speak to over 2,000 students. We coordinated with other student groups to create a seamless ceremony that honored local veterans and educated students about their service.While some sponsors do much of the work themselves, I felt it was important to help the young leaders in the organization build their leadership skills. Through the leadership class that I taught, I mentored these 12 students as a whole unit and through one-on-one meetings until they were mostly functioning independently by the time they planned the spring semester pageant.
