I manage the Global Network Systems and Services research team in Gartner's Infrastructure and Operations (IT User) IT Leader research organization. The amazing analysts on our team are located in the UK, US, Canada, Spain, Sweden, Italy and Australia. They advise enterprise clients on key network technologies including DC networks, UC&C systems and services, switches, routers, ADCs, LANs, SDN, SD WAN, NFV, fabric switches, WAN services, SIP Trunks, managed network and managed mobility services, mobile data and satellite services.

Telecommunications advisory and consulting firm specializing in emerging enterprise-class cloud and telecommunications technology consulting. Special emphasis on working with vendors and suppliers on product and marketing strategies.

I began working for Giga Information Group, founded by Gideon Gartner, as a Director in the firms' research organization, specializing in enterprise-class telecommunications services advisory, research and consulting. I was promoted to Vice President in Q1 2001, elected first Chair of the Research Fellows organization in 2002 and twice named by industry watchers as a top 10 Analyst of the Year. Forrester Research acquired Giga in 2003. Post-merger, my work focused on emerging US enterprise class telecom services research. These included VOIP/UC services, FMC, 3G and 4G services and technologies, MPLS, and Ethernet services. Clients at both firms included enterprise users of telecom services, telecom service providers, consultants, vendors and investors/VCs.

TRA is a privately-held telecommunications protocol training and consulting organization. Most of my work was in consulting, developing and training on telecom signaling protocols, including ISDN, SS7, and Wireless Intelligent Networks (WINs). Clients included major carriers, telecom vendors, and some enterprises whose businesses relied on these protocols (for example, companies with large contact centers). I also developed new, custom classes on emerging, network-dependent trends in enterprise networks (such as client/server computing, software-driven telecom services, trends in network management, etc.)

My work at AT&T began in market research and forecasting for (at the time) the world's first post-divestiture class of new enterprise-focused nodal services. My job was to isolate the key feature, support and pricing elements to help induce enterprise customers to migrate to SDN, and to continue to migrate to SDN over time. At that time, the SDN Demand model was the largest non-military simulation model in the world. Since inception, this class of services has generated over $100B worldwide for telecom providers. Two years later, I joined the team that developed AT&T's fractional T1 service offer and created the strategy to migrate custmers off analog private lines and onto FT1. Two years later, I joined the ISDN PRI/SS7 product development team, and worked with cross-disciplinary teams on a variety of officially sanctioned and also skunkworks projects. Our mission to make PRI the defacto standard for business voice services was a success, and five of the features we developed are now patented.
