As a litigation lawyer, I've helped countless businesses and individuals successfully resolve their unwanted conflicts over the past 30 years. I collaborate with my clients to ensure their dispute is resolved in the most pain-free and cost efficient manner possible.My law journey started with my law degree at the University of Otago. I was admitted to the New Zealand bar in 1988 and in 1993, as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.In the early part of my career, I spent seven years working in London where I was involved in several high profile cases, including a test case claiming corporate manslaughter arising from the capsize of a cross-channel ferry. I also carried out work for the Law Society of England and Wales on negligence cases against solicitors, valuers, accountants and medical practitioners. I returned to NZ in 1996 and have since dedicated my work to helping local business and individuals resolve their conflicts - from rural, insurance, insolvency, bankruptcy and construction disputes to contractural, shareholder, joint venture, trading and debt issues.While I can represent my clients throughout New Zealand district and high courts, the majority of the claims I've managed over the past 15 years+ have been settled successfully through the alternative dispute resolution process. With considerable experience and skill in negotiation and mediation, I help my clients to negotiate a settlement outside the courtroom.When I am not working or travelling, I'm outside in my gumboots, tending to my home garden, land and animals.
