The current practice for sales are made through customer meetings, telephone orders, monthly stock lists sent out to current customers and through the company's website.Another facet of the business I take a pivotal part in is redesigning the business brand and putting into action the marketing tactics. The use of Mail Chimp offers a medium for the business to deliver its service and products to its valued customers through emails that are attention grabbing. This marketing channel has demonstrated ongoing increases in the company's revenues and provides the flexibility required for the company to target specific customers with varied strategies.As part of my duties, I partner with the Purchasing Officer to continuously update the e-catalogs that are provided to the customers for purchase. The updates correspond with the exchange rates at the time of container arrivals and the level of stock remaining. As part of a hard working team focusing on providing homeware products for wholesale distribution, it is a priority to ensure that the 300+ products in our catalog are all fairly, yet aggressively, priced in the competitive market.As well as managing a part of the company's main stream of activities, assisting the manager and co-manager's personal tasks play an integral part of the position. The company has a number of financial obligations that requires detailed attention and exercises my knowledge of the financial products in the market. Through my education in the financial sector, I am able to aid management in making feasible decisions in future investments, financial products and managing property finances.

    The startup family business within the retail sector is to introduce an enhanced lifestyle for the local people of the Western Province, Solomon Islands. My responsibilities for the business are mainly day to day inventory checks, managing business account to allow free movement of business expenses, manage daily cash flows, and ordering goods from Honiara and a small percentage of goods from Australia. By providing goods from overseas, it allows a diverse range of high quality goods and purchase options. The recruitment process is also one of the most crucial duties because of the small percentage of workers within the services industry of 20% (IndexMundi, June 2015). Therefore in order to select workers for a small startup, it is completed through a process I have created to suit the unemployed community which takes into account of equality and no discrimination of any type. The difference in the recruitment process compared to other businesses in the area allows workers to be happy and work in a workplace they are satisfied with. The pricing of items fluctuate frequently especially on the main necessities such as rice, flour and biscuits due to the high competition. However, the strategy I have devised is to meet the needs of the locals. The first strategy used depend on the amount of goods to be purchased and discount each product by $1 - $3. The second strategy implemented is to discount a majority of the prices further more on the busiest day of the week. By managing different sectors of the business, I have not only grasped onto the business management knowledge but also gaining cultural awareness in the community I am providing for.
