The analyzers are often used in acute care settings in hospitals, which require the device to be highly intuitive and easy to use. In the project we are working to optimize usability testing of medical devices using medical simulation (in this case at DIMS, Danish Institute of Medical Simulation, Herlev Hospital). Testing in simulation provides the development team an opportunity to see their product perform in highly realistic settings while adding stress and distractions to the scenarios - without placing patients or test participants at risk.

Through my work at DIMS I am a part of projects where simulation is used in usability testing of e.g. medical devices and observation schemas. I also have been working as an assistant to the researchers at the institute.

During my internship at the Centre I was part of the ongoing project “House of the Patients” (Patienternes Hus), which aims to improve the value to both patient and hospital by improving the patient service. This is done through user-driven innovation and public-private innovation cooperation. In the internship I helped researching, conducting focus group interviews and evaluating the outcome. This was then translated into input to an innovationcamp, in which I functioned as co-facilitator. Patients, health care personnel and representatives from private interested parties participated.

The project was based on user-driven innovation where I was part of preparing, coordinating and running focus group interviews with social/health care assistants on three nursing homes in Copenhagen, setting up questionnaires for the employees and analyzing the outcome.
