In that capacity I worked intimately with the CTO to understand the science requirements while leading and individually contributing to a small group of engineers. Together we developed, from napkin to serial production, our Initial product; a mm-Wave (K-band), fully coherent, MIMO (~200x200), FMCW SAR 3-D imaging system for performing fully automated weapons and explosive detection screening of people while they walked through (video frame rates).Later we folded in a passive array of 3-axis flux-gate magnetic field sensors to generate a 3D field imaging system to further supplement the mm-wave imager.
Chief Engineer
Acquired by SAIC ~ Aug 2010 for ~$240MI was the first full time hire after the co-founders in the role of Chief Engineer. Helped build the technical team and then both individually contributed to and lead that team in designing and developing, from napkin to serial production, a portfolio of Dual-Energy X-ray, 3D, Computer Tomographic imaging systems.All products employ advanced machine vision explosives detection algorithms to perform fully automated commercial aviation checked baggage explosives detection. The last product developed for the portfolio (post acquisition) passed the US Federal Government’s TSA administered detection testing with the highest ever probability of detection score while simultaneously achieving the lowest ever recorded false alarm rate. Sweet.
