About Daniel Heng
"Create value that means something to people." These words from my professor James Allworth have stuck with me since the day I heard them. Having worked across the public and private sectors, and even charities, I’ve realized that what focus workers in an organization should have greatly varies. However, finding out what that focus is has always been the same for me. I ask myself, "What would be meaningful TO MY TARGET AUDIENCE?". Being relevant, or as world-class negotiator Chris Voss calls it, "tactical empathy", is the main skill I have cultivated across my years in and out of university. It means to put yourself in the shoes of others, to face a person eye-to-eye and find win-win compromises in situations that seemingly have none. Doing this has made me a kinder, more focused team player and leader, who obsessively seeks to find the biggest wins not just for himself, but for all those around him. Facing problems head-on is my passion and maximizing efficiency is my game.
