Developing and originating a Master’s level course on Safety and Mission Assurance for Space Systems to be taught as part of the Master’s curriculum for Systems Engineering at Embry-Riddle. Topics: Industry standards, probabilistic risk assessment, risk matrix, verification and validation, common cause, redundancy, fault tolerance; as well as FMEA, hazard, risk, and fault tree analyses. Strategy: Case study approach into learning safety systems engineering, focusing on lessons learned.The learner-centered course is strategically designed to use case-studies of significant incidents, accidents, and close calls in human spaceflight to teach safety systems engineering subjects, while inculcating safety culture. The goal of my proposed academic strategy is to produce students with integrity, accountability, and responsibility.

Working under the Computer Safety and Software Assurance Branch. Responsible for reviewing and tracking of the Computer-Based Control Systems (CBCS) of spacecraft launching to the International Space Station (ISS) to ensure catastrophic and critical hazards are sufficiently controlled, contained, or mitigated and review of the spacecraft's hazard reports ensure all hazard controls and inhibits are sufficiently documented.Worked on software assurance for visiting vehicles to the ISS, conducting surveillances for provider compliance. Developed Software Quality Assurance training documents for the Branch and contractor counterpart.

This project is a collaboration between Embry-Riddle, biologists at the Brevard Zoo, and Northrop Grumman to create technologies that contribute to the conservation of sea turtles. Supervised team of 8 engineers of different disciplines on the development of payloads that house an onboard computer running a neural network to identify sea turtles over water. Developed and integrated weatherproof enclosures for sensitive components. Designed, 3D modeled, and prototyped different payload bays, mounts, and enclosures
