STAIR of Birmingham is a children's literacy program focused on second grade students reading below grade level in the Birmingham City School system. Children are paired with trained community volunteers who provide one-on-one tutoring sessions two days a week at 13 sites throughout the community. The program will serve over 200 children in the 2017-18 school year. On average students improve their reading scores by 90% when they complete the program.
