As the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, Humanities Texas advances education through programs that improve the quality of classroom teaching, support libraries and museums, and create opportunities for lifelong learning for all Texans.  As coordinator of educational programs, I:• Direct the Outstanding Teaching Award program, which includes managing program correspondence, updating web content, promoting awards on a statewide level, overseeing the nomination and application process, and coordinating and participating in public ceremonies for award recipients.• Plan, promote, and implement content-rich professional development institutes and workshops for social studies and language arts teachers across Texas.• Perform event-planning for three-and-a-half day summer teacher institutes and one-day teacher workshops during the school year, including organizing all related logistics.• Maintain and track correspondence with participating scholars, teachers, and cultural and educational organizations.• Organize and lead annual December book fair.• Communicate and meet with members of Congress and the state legislature and their offices to advocate for support of Humanities Texas's teacher professional development programs. • Present on Humanities Texas resources for educators at various educational workshops and conferences and promote resources to teachers and administrators across Texas.• Provide direct support to executive director in daily activities.
